Introduction to Sailing at CYC 2014

General information

Note: Our program for 2014 has completed, but we intend to offer this again next year. Link to this address and check back in the Spring for updates and dates..

Candlewood Yacht Club offers this program to the general public as part of our community outreach and to generally promote the sport of sailing. It is free of charge, and intended to give folks who might be interested in sailing a chance to experience it first hand, as well as get to know our club and what great fun it is to sail!

All events are on Saturday afternoons, 12:00 to 4:00 at Candlewood Yacht Club's facilities, and will follow the same format each time. A number of CYC members have volunteered their boats and their services as captains to take participants sailing. After introductions and a short briefing on shore, participants will be assigned to boats, and we will sail as a group for about 2-3 hours. The dates for 2014 are: June 28, July 5, August 2, August 9.

The program is open to adults (18 years or older) from all surrounding communities, and they may include their dependents if they are 12 years or older. Anyone under 18 must be with parent or guardian throughout the event. You may select to paricipate in either one or two days, and if you select two we recommend two sequential weekends. We will have capacity for a maximum of 20 participants in each session, and will be accepting on a first come first serve basis.

The process for signing up is as follows:
